Coconut Oil and Your Hair
February 8, 2016
Coconuts are pretty incredible. Not only are they delicious on their own, but when used for particular items (pina coladas or coconut shrimp anyone?) they’re even better. They are able to elevate already great flavour profiles, and make them better. If that weren’t enough, over the past few years more wonderful things about coconuts have become known and go well beyond just food.
One of the wonderful benefits of coconut is oil is for the hair and skin. Here are some of the ways in which it can enhance and strengthen the hair.
It’s Non-Greasy
“Coconut oil contains medium chain triglycerides (MCTs), which are fatty acids that are easily absorbed by the body. So, while it’s an oil, it won’t leave your tresses looking greasy. A pro tip is to apply coconut oil to the ends of your hair only if you’re going out. This will prevent your hair from getting weighed down by the product.
Rich in Antioxidants
Besides fighting harmful free-radicals that can harm your body, according to New Beauty, antioxidants help hair grow. This is especially important for the winter months, when, according to The Huffington Post, hair growth slows down.”
The next time you’re in the grocery store, make sure to pick up some coconut oil, your hair and Ottawa hair stylist will thank you!
